I acquired a .38 and I'm trying to figure out it's manufacturing date. Serial number 660292

My best guess looking at the Standard Catalog .38 special M&P hand ejector listed serial number range would be prewar late 30s or early '40s. (1915-1942 range ends at 700000.)

Someone will be along soon who can tell you more at a glance. The members here have a depth of knowledge that's amazing.

Welcome. Closest I have is 6256xx from 1930. We can narrow it down just a bit more because your revolver has the small logo on the left side, and the change moving that logo happened in 1936 per SCSW. So, probably early 1930's. Ought to be a great shooter! It's chambered in 38 Special, and that's generally accurate with light recoil. Good luck!
