Unlike the Model 20 I posted previously which was a 4" Blue revolver, the Model 20-2's we know of were Nickel finished. The 20-2 featured below, S255737, was shipped December 28 1964 for Austin PD. They were all 4" Nickel, 3 screw guns. There were 50ea guns in the shipment and were among the last 38/44s ever produced. They were all in the S255XXX serial number range. It was refinished in December 1973.
Another good 'history lesson', Bill.
Thanks for a neat post.
It's interesting how all the Austin PD HD's have become such 'cult' guns over the years.
I still maintain that someday , in 'Ranger Ray' Martinez' effects, the one that everybody hopes they own will show up!
Don
Bill,
Thanks, and we can say the same about you when it comes to the .44 Mag but I must say you have a lot of knowledge about all things S&W! I'm not too old to learn about S&Ws!
Don, Lyle has asked Ranger Ray what the serial number and or rack number on that gun was and he doesn't know. If one were to figure it out and had it, it would be one valuable revolver!
Thanks again,
Bill
