I have recently been given a top break .32 serial 179424 which I believe is a 3rd model is this gun safe to shoot with modern ammo

I have read that the modern day 32 S&W ammo is made as to be safe in the older S&W's.

Correct, & ditto for .38 S&W, which I've fired a lot of in a New Departure like yours. Likewise, current .45 Colt is loaded to pressures that won't blow up a BP Single-Action, & .45-70 that won't blow up a Trap-Door Springfield; their company lawyers see to that! There are a very few ammo companies like Glazer that specialize in high-pressure loads for modern arms chambered for BP cartridges, but those cartridges are clearly labeled as such & usually sold in special packages of 6 rounds or so.
