Just acquired a 31-1, s/n h154###, w a 3” barrel, advertised as never fired. Came w matching box and paperwork. Pulled grips off and they are stamped w 188###. I expected numbers to match. Is this cause for concern? (pardon my poor photography) Revolver Trigger Material property Air gun Gun accessory

The only concern is those aren't the original grips.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! What does the box label say about the grips, if anything? Show a picture of the grips so we can see if they are period correct. Matching grips complete a top dollar collector package. So, non-matching grips will discount the value of your package...maybe $50.

The only thing written on the “stock” box is the letter “S”.

Probably means "square." They appear to be correct, just not numbered to the gun.
