Good Morning All,
I have what seems to be a common question. I have a 2" Snub (6 shot) that was my Dad's backup. It's in good shape, tight, not had a lot of rounds through it, it is showing some normal holster wear.

I've asked around in a couple of shops without much success. Photos are attached. The number under the extractor star is the same as on the butt. 0909191730b.jpg , 0909191717a~2.jpg , 0909191719a~3.jpg , 0909191712a~2.jpg

There is a name engraved on the backstrap. Could this have been a presentation piece?

Looking for a Model number and approximate value. Wanting to get a kydex carry holster and don't want to buy the wrong one.

Any help is appreciated.

Guessing mid to late 1950's, but I don't have the book in front of me.

It is a Model 10 no dash before they started stamping them as Models. My Model 10 snubby (also a no dash), s/n C470024 shipped 9/59. Yours would have shipped a little bit earlier in 1958 or 1959.

Military & Police Model serial # 403111 shipped in 1957 just before they were re-named Model 10 (often called a Pre-Model 10). The other # is a now meaningless assembly #. A holster for a 2" K frame will fit. If you decide to change the grips K frame square butt will fit. An excellent gun that w/ regular shooting & cleaning will be around for a few more generations. Around here that would sell for around $450-500... but if I inherited that from my Dad it would be priceless.

The change over to Model 10 stamping occurred around C436xxx - C437xxx according to DWalt. I do know C438xxx shipped in 1958 and C4080xx shipped Nov 57 but I don't know if it was stamped a Model 10.
