1962 model 10 pc grip finish ???

hi guys , I finally located a set of used diamond PC grips for my 1962 vintage model 10 , the finish is gone ,were these grips varnished or oiled ??

Oil would be correct.

Boiled Linseed is accurate, but Birchwood Casey's "Tru-Oil" is pretty close and alot quicker (fewer coats).

I think they were still using Tung oil in 1962... which produced a durable slightly glossey finish... nicer finish than BLO and didn't smell quite so strong... at least not to me.
