OK, I paid too much for it (from a local guy), but It's hard to find one this nice. The seller said he had never fired it in 25 years. It looks like never fired or fired a few times. No dents in the wood or scratches on the blue. It's the good pre-1964 with all forged parts.
JMO. No one had a clue that a gun made in 1957 would be so special. I have two lettered S&W pre-27 revolvers made in 1957 and 1955 that are worth twice or more than a lever action pre-1964. I think the S&W .357 Magnum (pre-27) new price was about the same new as a Model 94?
I think we now realize the workmanship of the old steel guns with handmade walnut stocks (some checkered by hand) are very special.
I looked at a 'new' Marlin lever action recently. I am sure the gun shoots well. However, the blueing was poor, and the stocks are "Stamped Checkered" by a computer. Uck.
My first Model 94 was the middle one above (~1974). It is blue (the pic looks different). The top one is a 1967 (w/ box), and the second one going down is a 1975 (w/ box). The fourth one down is the 1950.
Nice old rifle. Hang on to it 'cause they don't make'em like that any more.
I inherited a Winchester 94 .30-30 that was made in 1950 and I still have it. I also inherited a Marlin model 1889 .38-40 that was made in 1892 that my great grandpa bought new 127 years ago.
The Winchester 94 is in the center of the photo and the Marlin 1889 is at the top of the photo. The one at the bottom is a Marlin 94 .44 Mag that was made in 1977.
I got this one about 7 years ago from 1946. Was a Pawn shop owner private collection and got it from his widow and her grandson had stolen all but this one and a Colt MK III. She sold them to me 400 each and they will be cared for.
Looking at these Winchesters reminds me of the series Yellowstone with Kevin Costner. If you haven't watched it you need to. Winchesters model 94's are used.
