  1. What is it, When was it made, What's it worth?
Hi - I have a slew of old revolvers and cannot pin down the model/year for this one. It’s a .38 special long barrel, no model number on the cylinder yoke, only serial number no letter prefix. #17600 Barrel stamped 38 S&W Special CTG but no other markings to identify model.
  2. S&W Revolvers 1857 to 1945
Well, a large frame revolver day yesterday. I got to shoot a 44 special smith and it was a pleasure to shoot. Loaded light but way more manageable than the 44 mag I shot this summer. It was a 624. I can say that shooting it was easy. Any one else shoot these? I think I'd rather a 44 mag to...

I have a 5 shot 9mm that is great for a light weight run to the store gun but I don't trust the flimsy star clips for it to hold the rounds. Are there any good ones that hold up to walking around? Maybe in a speed pouch? Or is that just my hang up with the caliber choice? Just curious
  4. S&W Revolvers 1945 to Present
Call me a dreamer, but it would be nice if they finally did that. I am not sure of the history completely. But I know they caved to pressure in the late 90s or early 2000s to arbitrary gun safety laws. But to my knowledge they are not bound to still keep it around. But they are based in...

So I am new to the forum but not new to shooting Smith and Wesson. I grow up in a Smith & Wesson friendly house. One of my dads favorite. Lately I have been wanting a project gun and I saw centerfire systems had some older Smith’s online that need saving. Some of them are Beyond my help but I...

Hey y'all, I'm new to pistol shooting and definitely new to revolvers. However, I just purchased some nice S/W revolvers from my father's lifelong friend who recently passed away in February of 2020. That man died with over 99 handguns on his Concealed Carry Permit and my brother, sister and I...

  15. S&W Revolvers 1945 to Present
So a good co-worker had her brother pass away. He was a lifelong gunsmith, she recruited me to help her with the hoard of guns this guy had. I litterally counted over 100 and that was just in his bedroom closet, did'nt even get to his fully decked out gunsmithing shop he had behind his house...
  16. S&W Revolvers 1857 to 1945
Can anyone give me some advice on a way to clean and remove the pitting from this revolver. I was told it left factory in 1927. Not sure what the finish is. Can I strip and blue the trigger and hammer? I don’t want to restore but I want it as good as I can get it in terms of aesthetics. Also any...

Hello, I just purchased a S&W Model 629 4" and decided to sign up to the forum. I made this decision because I found this place to be an excellent source of information which helped me to make my purchase. Specifically, I was considering a S&W Model 29, Model 629 and a Ruger Red-hawk Alaskan...
