  1. New Members Introduction
Purchased this a few months ago (coincidental with stay at home orders) and have read really good things about it. Only fired 38 spl so far because the magnum is impossible to find right now but it is fun at the range. Any suggestions for a change of grips? This one just doesn’t feel right for...

Hello from Texas, I’ve been an avid shooter for years but never owned a Smith & Wesson before.....so here is my first one. It’s a model 66 recently acquired from a friend that is downsizing his collection. Pictured with my Ruger Montado.....they look together. I didn’t have a lot of...
  3. S&W Revolvers 1857 to 1945
First off, I'm not a "gun guy." I'm a guy with a gun. I bought a S&W 66-5 3" barrel to defend my family from the hoards of marauders about to attack after the y2k scare. January 1, 2000 (y2k) was the date the world's computers were going to collapse and send us back to the dark ages (for those...

I found a 3 inch Model 66 at a gun show recently. I got it at a good price. I had 3 inch 65, and just liked the adjustable sights on the 66. As I've looked around it appears to me that this 3 inch 66 is not very common. Have I found a S&W revolver that's relatively rare?

I have a model 66-2, 6" 357 mag and would like to start hand loading for. I would like to load for indoor target and outdoor range. For home protection I use factory loads. I have lots of brass that I have saved and would like to load. I understand this model is not a candidate for super high...

Just picked up a P&R Model 66 (my first Smith!) at a pawn shop for $400 in well-used condition. I'm having trouble figuring out if it's a 66-1 or a no-dash. The model number is just stamped MODEL 66, no dash number, but it has the orange-insert front ramp and black rear sight which I thought was...

Hi y'all. I have a Model 66 on layway at a local pawnshop, and I thought I'd ask a couple questions before I plunk down the rest of the cash. This isn't my first revolver (though it will be my first Smith), so I knew to check cylinder lockup and endshake, and those seem fine. I didn't have a...

I know I am asking alot, but I will trade someone some of my time for theirs. I have my first police revolver and I would love to know when it was made. S&W Model 66 4" s/s, 357 Mag, serial number 4K61xxx. I am a 25 yr ASE Master Tech and an auto repair expert, you help me and anytime you want...

I just purchased a model 66-5 and would like to find out some more information about it. The serial number is CER8979. As far as I can tell it is a 2000 or 01. It came in the box with all the papers, and test-fire bullet (unopened) It has the 6" barrel. Can I tell for sure what year / date...
