    5946 slide markings

Hi. I just picked up a 5946 in excellent condition. There is a marking on the slide that I've never seen before. It says "CAUTION - MODEL NUMBER ON PARTS MUST AGREE". What does that mean?? Thanks alot, John............Name: smith.jpg

Possibly the using authority added it if they were operating other 3rd generation types. The internal parts would likely not interchange.

19 and 41 has it right. 5946's were marked so to notify Armorers that the parts DO NOT interchange with any of the other 5900 series pistols. Model number parts in the armorers manual must match the parts listing
for a particular gun and then the generic parts list.

Armorers Manuals have * denotations in the manual to correspond to special parts list for a particular gun
