    M&P trigger really sucks/any help?

Just bought an M&P full-size original 9mm and the trigger is truly atrocious. 8 1/2-pound pull and gritty as hell. Short of buying an APEX or other aftermarket trigger kit, is there anything I can do to lighten/smooth out the stock trigger? Gunsmith says I'm SOL and trigger upgrade is only option. S&W customer service quoted me 150 to upgrade to a 2.0 trigger. I'm on the verge of selling but want to give the gun a chance to live up to some of the rave reviews I've read.
    Any suggestions?

Either get used to it or sell it. Don't invest more money in a gun you don't like. I have one and find the trigger fine. I hope you didn't buy it thinking it had a match trigger.

If you like the gun, get the Apex trigger kit. It really does make a difference.

That is the reason I never bought an M&P when they first came out and I don't believe in putting more money into a firearm to try and make it better.
I heard that the 2.0 has a better trigger if you still want an M&P.
For me I am finished buying plastics, going back to wood and steel.

You did not test the trigger before buying? Sure you can spend over $100 for a trigger upgrade but is it worth it??
The "reviews" note that the trigger sucks it should be more like 6.5lbs not 8.5
Like a Glock, great gun once you replace the trigger and other assorted parts.

My example of The MP9 is a Gen-1. Installed a Apex Duty-Carry kit, the trigger press is now 4.5Lbs.
