My vote in a 9mm is the (now discontinued) Browning BDM. It holds 16 rounds in a double stack magazine but has the slimmest and most comfortable small grip you'll ever handle. Runs like a sewing machine with anything you stuff in it. It appeared on the scene in all steel when everyone was in love with plastics. Additionally it wasn't a "pretty" gun, just all business in a compact battle pistol. It was supposed to be the next generation of the High Power but sadly died away. If you ever handle one you'll be amazed how small & comfortable the grip is and it's a natural pointer. The first shot is DAO but You can also turn a switch and run it single action or double action only.
