Where to look for a "Lined" IWB Holster for my new beautiful Model 10 2" bbl ??
Ok,...so I get this sweet little 2" bbl model 10 Police gun, right? I'm all worried about wearing off the blue now in my cowhide iwb holster from Barsony. Any ideas where to look for A soft lined (iwb) holster for it,....that wont wear out the blue?
I looked at El Paso Saddlery,...not many iwb holsters there,...and some are more than the gun was!
E-Bay...so many stores there, selling every imaginable Type and Maker of all ya could want in a Holster. Just look in Sporting goods, Hunting, then Pistols, and holsters will show up. Good luck n congrats on the 10. Mike
Thanks man, I bought that Peru Police gun. I get it Monday.
Guy at the gun store to where I had it sent said it's like new, like the grips never been touched. Hope they are the original grips. It's 30 years old,...not sure how they could "feel" new.
Galco probably makes a lined IWB holster for your 10. When I carried blued guns and didn't want to spend the money for lined I bought a regular leather holster and worked neetsfoot oil into it a few times until it was as soft as lined. It really works. Always do this with a good quality holster because it will make an inferior one lose its shape.
OK, good ideas. Thanks. Some store around me sells Galco. I haven't been carrying for about 2 weeks now cuz every piece I've bought I don't wanna shoot or mess up in a holster and the gun store guy bought my Ruger.
I have 3 safe queens now,.. and just a fire safe lock box,...about shoe box size. I need to get a holster quick.
I need a scratched up gun to shoot,..but I don't wanna buy a scratched up gun!
R&S, I believe I have what you are looking for. Mine is not for sale and I just checked it and all it says is Made in Mexico, in Spanish. Soft leather, Chamois lined, steel belt clip. My Dad bought it and I don't know where. Sorry, but at least you know they exist.
+1 on Lobo Gun Leather. Ray is competitive on his prices, but he might not have one in stock. If he has to make it, there is lead time that was running about 30 days. A lined holster is just going to cost more than unlined.
You might try El Paso Saddlery, but they won't be cheap.
If you don't want to mess it up.....keep it in the safe. You don't want to use a holster.......so why buy one????? It makes sense for 'Safe Queens'. I've bought holsters for guns that I rarely use. They just hang around gathering dust. Bob
A lined holster will collect dust particles in the lining which will also rub the gun. Not as bad as a regular hardlined one, but the wear will be more universal rather than just on the high spots.
Probably not a fair comparison to what you intend, but this gun rode in a lined holster for 13 years.
THIS one that belonged to a motorcycle officer rode in the same holster since, um, as long as he had it... He died in 56, so it went into the gun vault in a holster... making a museum piece turn into a shooter.
Don't do it. If it isn't a shooter, tuck it into its own foam lined box for storage. If it is to be a shooter, go drop $13-25 on a cloth lined cordura holster, and for your commemorative revolver, a holster or gun rug is likely to damage the gold inlay work. The silicone in the fabric outgasses and destroys the adhesive in the gold inlay compound. Found that out the expensive way... Took a $1600 unfired fancy gun and turned it into a range rat in less than a year. No, not the pictured revolver, that's just another "holsters destroy finishes example".
Wow, thanks for THAT info. Thanks for seeing it had gold on it. I need some foam, I guess. I doubt I will ever shoot that gun. It's a 4" bbl,...not like I'm gonna carry that for a CCW piece. I was intending on it to be a "loaded table piece" for any "unwanted middle of the night intruders",....more than a safe queen.
I have a nice 2" bbl Peru Police gun, Model 10, that I wanna carry,...now that gun I will shoot, at least enough to become proficient with, and know I can rely on it to protect my life.
I would like to carry my nice blued guns more often but...holster wear
Thinking about holster wear led me to this old thread. Interesting. Lined holsters. Maybe that is what I need?
I wonder how the new bluing process Smith has been using for a few years effects wear? You know, the blue finish that is ruined by one application of Hoppes or Bastoil.
None of mine have that horrible finish. All my new guns are SS....but now that I think about it I do have a new 586-7 3" PC. Anyone know anything about that matte finish?
I now have a small box of leather holsters. They seem to multiply. None of them are lined. Sure wish I had bought at least a few with a good lining.
Anyone have their new method blue finish revolvers showing early wear?
I sure don't want to spend another four or five hundred dollars getting a few sizes of lined holsters if I can avoid it.
I have a very clean M-10-7 2", that sees a limited amount of carry in a Hume JIT Slide OWB holster. It isn't lined, but has a very clean, smooth, inner surface. My M-10 is in just about LNIB condition. It only has a very light turn line. I make it a point to wipe the powder and grunge off the gun EVERYTIME I shoot it.......before putting it in the holster. I think that's what makes the inside like sandpaper, and wears the finish of the gun.
I also have a cheap, flat, Bianchi IWB that's made from thin 'rough out' leather.......it's almost like suede. It doesn't have a shape.....it's just flat, soft leather with a big metal clip. It makes it hard to reholster.....but it doesn't scratch up the gun, either. You might consider it. Bob
