    Smith from Europe

I'm looking at a Smith that was imported from Europe. It says that it is stamped for import, other than that, no other European markings.

I'm looking for a shooter, so if this hinders value I'm oK with it. Is a Smith a Smith? There shouldn't be anything different since it came from Europe should there?

I don't see any problem, just because it went on vacation to Europe. It was still made in Springfield, MA. USA!!!! Bob

Most collectors devalue a collectible gun with import markings.

If you're looking for a shooter, it's not an issue unless the gun was modified in some unusual way to meet national regulations.

One of my model 10 revolvers is a returned police surplus gun from Italy, and it's double action only (factory ordered that way).

Should be the same as any other S&W. It still came from Springfield, Mass. to start with.
