    Finally got that 65

Ok. An old model 10 got me seriously into revolvers and soon further into Smiths. I bought three revolvers today at Cabela's in Wheeling. Among them, a pristine model 65. I carried a m64 dao police trade as my bag gun for quite a while but gifted it to my brother as it fit his needs well. I gifted my other one to my sister. My mother actually paid for hers. What can I say? They are the perfect toes-in-the-water-need-a-gun-but-novice guns. And I need my family members to have the perfect guns. I replaced my 64 with a 4" gp100 that isn't leaving my travel bag but I've always wanted that 65. I've never found the fixed sights lacking to 25yds. There are plenty that could make a mockery of me on the shooting line but on a field rest a 6" plate isn't hard at 35yds from those doa 64's. So for $450+tx and 1\3 of a $45 transfer, I've been looking forward to that 65 for years. I think the 357 k frame is the Pinnacle of revolverdom. Pics as soon as I pick it up, but I couldn't wait to share with people that actually care. Friends and family just kind of glaze over when I get into particulars.

Is there a section for other makes?

Sorry. Answered my own question. Didn't see the "other makes" above "revolvers"

Congrats on your newest acquisitions! That 65 should be a blast to shoot. Gotta love a good .357! We look forward to the upcoming pics.

Congrats on the 65. I too am a big fan of the 357. And if you reload, even more fun.

Jeepnut... I'll be moved into new house before Christmas. I've got a press, brass and recipes. Can't wait to set up a loading bench in my tiny gun closet. I've hunted primarily with a 357 single shot for years. I'm very interested in 350 legend as well

Thwe M-65 is a K frame, and as such, has the forcing cone problem. I think an L frame would be better in the long run, since it can handle any .357 Mag load, without a problem. I also have a S&W M-66-1 K frame, that I wanted for shooting .357 Mag ammo. But, I'm perfectly content to use .38 Spl. +P in it. I do have 2 boxes of 158 gr. .357 ammo, which is supposed to be OK in a K frame. Bob

I have several K-frame 357 magnums and shoot mag loads in them all the time. I often hear comments about not shooting magnum loads in them but I have very rarely found anyone who has actually had or witnessed any failures of the forcing cone so I for one am gonna enjoy my K,s with whatever I choose to put through them. Respectively Thanks
