    38 special ctg

    I have a 38 spl. CTG. Mod 37 ser # ADA6512 would like some info and prices on it please. More numbers on the Crain are 36726 and a stamp C5

    Welcome to the forum! Your gun is a S&W Chief's Special Airweight (alloy frame) w/square butt made ca. 1983.

    The "38 Spl CTG" stamped on the barrel stands for "38 Special Cartridge", the correct ammo for this gun.

    The other numbers you metioned are merely factory assembly numbers and have no meaning.

    Value can be between $200-$500 depending on condition and market.

    Welcome to the forum from NE Georgia. Great little carry guns but use 38 Special only, no +P ammo.

    What jeepnut said. No +P in the Airweights. My Mod 37 is snappy enough with normal 125/135 grain loads. Hank
