    S & W Mod 28-2 Date?

Several years ago I bought a S & W Mod 28-2, six inch barrel, very nice deep blue polish on the sides, mat top and bottom. very lightly used. It came with the factory white polyester pearl grips with S & W medallion. pinned barrel. recessed cylinder for cartridge rims. SN N170813. I bought some very nice quality carved rosewood grips but found they were about an 1/8" thicker each side, and too thick for me. it is a sweet piece, shoots very well with .38 Spcl and +P .38 Spcl. i have shot it a little with .357 Mag but have not shot enough to get accustomed to the round and see any real accuracy. I have a Tyler T-grip on it now and it hangs nicely. When was this manufactured? I have seen a lot of contridictory and confusing info on line about SN and dates. Many thanks in advance.

Mant thanks RapidRay. It would have been about 30 years old when I purchased the piece.

When I was young my Mother told me I could be anyone I wanted to be. Turns out the police call that 'Identity Theft.'
