    Another Canadian S&W Hand Ejector Frankengun

    I just bought this at an auction. It have been slightly modified There are two numbers, one on the butt and one inside the crane. Which one is the serial number?

    I think you are missing one digit; should be six, in which case the vintage is 1940. Five digits would be 1905/06. Interestingly, the grips are from the 19-teens.

    yes.. a S&W Hand Ejector 455 second model, chambered in 455 mark II (at least orig ) this would probably date to the 1916 window.. i have a letter for 64590 shipping Canadian Govt June 1916



    these all still chamber and fire orig .455, although one has been modified to also shoot 45 colt..

    Thanks! What is required to get them to shoot .45 Colt? I know the rim is larger.

    Boring the chambers and shaving the rear of the cylinder. Fiocci makes 455 still, might want to just do that.

    my .455 has the same Canadian stamp as yours.

    Someone gave it a Fitz job. That's a large bore revolver, with barrel cut down and trigger guard cut away in the front. Its a concept pioneered by John Henry Fitzgerald. He was a Colt employee prior to the 40's. Rex Applegate, Charles Lindberg and Clyde Barrow were known to carry a Fitz Special
