Welcome from Illinois. That's a pretty early C series. Mine's 328XXX and from 1955, so earlier than that. Early 50's ?

Howdy and Welcome to the forum.

My standard catalog shows your s/n as being in the first group of "C" prefixes.......1948-1951

    I hope that helps,

    to the forum.

I don't follow the C prefixes very closely but I know that C1197xx (a 6" barrel) shipped 8/50 and I own C155209 (4" bbl) and that shipped 5/50. Your's should be in that neighborhood. You've got a very nice one there.

I also own C113082 which shipped 9/50 so you have a good idea of why serial number order is not always an accurate key of shipping dates.

There seems to have been a batch of 2-inch barreled M&P’s produced in mid-1951, based on several on record in the upper C160- and low C170-range that shipped in later 1951 and early 1952. Yours fits right in the middle of that batch, so 1951 it is, at least for production.
