Real ivory. I have tried synthetic and bonded ivory but does not seem same to me. You can not get elephant ivory interstate unless already on gun, so its hard to find. Mammoth Ivory doesn't have same restriction and if you find a set you like, I would buy it up fast. It too is getting harder and harder to find. I remember paying $275 for ivory from Boone several years ago and thought I was crazy at time. Looking back, it was a great purchase. I am very happy I had purchased my ivory before the band but when you add new guns it sure would be nice to add new grips.

I am having some giraffe bone made as many have said it looks like ivory if made correctly. Unfortunately, I found that now giraffe is entering the protected status and it too could become no longer available.

I had some bone grips made by Pat Grashorn and could not be happier with product or the service. Class act all the way. Any bone grips I order in future will come from him. However, he did not offer giraffe or ivory (not that i could get anyway).

I wouldn’t take 5k for the one supporting ivories! The 2.5 inch came out in 63. These are both early examples.
