    Some "also ran" single actions.

Aside from the usually seen brands the world is full of less than common single actions. Here's a couple.

Virginian Dragoon , They came in 45 colt, 44mag and 357. Fixed sight , Adj. sight, Blue and Stainless. All kinds of barrel lengths but ALWAYS large ,substantial guns . Most had a patriotic phrase engraved on the grip.

    This is a 6" 44mag.

Oddball enough by itself the Herter's Powermag even launched it's own caliber. Story has it George Herter (like many others ) saw a need for a magnum between 357 and 44 and developed this.
The .401 Powermag briefly predated the 41 mag but was soon overshadowed by it . As soon as S&W launched the 41 mag it was off to obscurity for the 401.
A true 40 caliber I suppose you could compare it to a rimmed 10mm or a straight wall 38-40.
Goofy big ole sights and goofy big ole grips and the fugliest hammer ever made did not win any beauty contests either. Guns were made by J.P. Sauer and Sohn and are closely related to Hawes and Hy Hunter lines.

I guess being a calibre instead of a caliber gives it a European flair ?
Let's see what out of the normal box of single actions Ya'll got.

I have a Virginian Dragoon in .357 mag and several Rugers...love the old 3 screw models.
Here's a pic of the Dragoon with Sambar stag grips.

That Herters looks and sounds like it is an interesting revolver and caliber!
Everything that happens is either endurable or not. If it’s endurable, then endure it. Stop complaining. If it’s unendurable . . . then stop complaining. Your destruction will mean its end as well.
