Gumbel is entitled to his opinion. Unfortunately he has the bully-pulpit to express his distorted liberal views. As a talking head, I was never impressed with him he was too overly assured and highly opinionated, in my opinion; I never watch his sports show.
It always is mind boggling that a person goes beyond public school and gets degrees in higher education and then has a political view that we need bigger government. You'd think that somewhere along the way they might have read a little history. Our ancestors took on the mightiest army in the world to escape a monarchy. Names like Hitler, Stalin and Mao Zedong pop up when big government is discussed. When Hitler first started to be a public figure, most Germans didn't take him seriously, they thought he was a buffoon. But when he seized power. no one dared to oppose him; he had seized privately owned firearms. . .So Gumbel thinks we're pigs? - Well I think he is not only wrong headed, but an overwhelmingly stupid big-mouth to make such a public remark.
