Got 629 on the brain again. Had one years ago and loved it but sold it to a freind when I couldnt find ammo for it anywhere. I have since taken up reloading so its not really an issue. So I was just looking to see what ammo is available for desert walking since I dont load my own Defensive ammo and went to look at underwood.

240Gr going 1500 FPS !!!! I am pretty sure that will take down any space aliens I might run into but what is it like to shoot out of a hangun? Anyone try it or something similar?

Wrong stance. Never discharge an X frame with your arms locked, always bent slightly and wrong hand placement. X frame 460's are 2 handers on the grip frame. Remember, I have one. My recoil and muzzle climb is nowhere hear that in the video with a 250 or 300 grain pill at maximum load. One on the grip frame and one on the butt is asking for trouble.

My 44 is the same deal only my 44 has acute muzzle climb.

You learn quickly about the arm locked stance couple discharges and a tube of Gay Ben afterwards.

Well, I DID warn him.

I'm just glad he didn't drop it.

Georgia Arms makes a hot .44 mag round they call the Deerslayer. It is a hard cast 200 grain bullet (IIRC) at 1600 fps or about 1200 ft/lbs of energy! I have some of this to shoot in my Ruger Redhawk but do so sparingly because of the recoil/noise! Not something you would want to touch off without hearing protection!

Underwood, Buffalo Bore, and the likes are Boutique ammo. Yes they are hot but to what end? Ridiculous prices and what does the extra "power" do for you other than wear and tear on the gun and your wrists?
A simple cure is to get some 357 ammo and shoot it out of a J :Dframe. That should fix your urge!

I can load anything they make and it doesn't cost me $40 a box of 20 . BOOM!
Well sure, but I think the pretext was for those that don't handload. kfjdrfirii
