Thanks everyone. It looks just like the picture. I will take it a gunsmith just to be sure.

What's the best S&W 40 carry gun. I like my Glock 22 but I find the 27 hard to hold. Want to stay with the same caliber of ammo as my Glock.

You're more than welcome Pardner. This is a pretty friendly & helpful bunch, stick around & swap a few stories. I'm not too up to date on autoloaders (the only one I own is a Glock 26) but several around here are. You'd probably get several good opinions if you asked in new thread.

m&p 40c is just about equal to the glocks. i have both and would be hard pressed to decide which one is better. m&p 40c is about the same size as glock 23 which fits right in the middle between the g22 and g27

Hi Jimbo59! In regards to the cracked frame, I would call Smith & Wesson and see if they can help you in any way!

    Jimbo,
    Welcome to the forum.
The best 40 cal auto loader is either the Smith & Wesson M&P 40 in polymer, or the 4006 if you prefer all metal. I had an M&P 40, but I was offered well more than I paid for it in a deal I couldn't refuse. I have a 4006, and nobody will get it until after I've left this veil of tears we currently share with about a billion other humans. I like the all metal for the added weight. It takes the snap out of the 40 S&W round.
If you could post a photo of the "crack" we'll be able to give you a better indication if you should be concerned about it or not. I have a revolver I thought was cracked, but after careful analysis by my gunsmith we discovered all was well after all. Better to ask, then to take something like this for granted. If it is cracked, S&W's lifetime warranty should make everything right very quickly.

    Regards,
    Gearchecker

Thanks for the info and I have confirmed that I was mistaken about the crack and if fact it is the seam. Thanks for the info on the M&P and the 4006. Very helpful group.
