To be vintage it must be older than me.

The next handgun I buy will be the next to last handgun I ever buy.

Great start on the S&Ws and that 28-2 will let you shoot like a pro.

Welcome to the forum. What you are calling a model 10, I don't think is a model 10. Its most likely that its a British Service Revolver from the WW2 era. The barrel has been cut down which removed the front locking lug and a new front sight was made and attached. These were chambered in 38 S&W, not 38 special. I like the grips on it

Hey Jonesy, interesting - this is why I joined this forum as my S&W knowledge is pretty sparse. What it was sold/bought as is S&W Model 10 .38 SPL.

I actually pick that one up tomorrow AM so you have placed some questions in my mind and I am trying to rack my brain to determine if I saw .38 special on the gun or not. After looking in the S&W Catalog I was thinking it was a postwar Model 10 in the 1945-48 time period. Guess I will be able to confirm or deny tomorrow morning....

Not sure what to do on the barrel - tempted to restore it to what it shipped from the factory as long term.

Thanks for responding and the info. Jerry
