I think Springfield, Miissuiouri is trying to become St. Louis (or Kansas City)

Ever done a web search for most dangerous cities in America? Everybody has their own list. But St. Louis or Kansas City is on all of them, sometimes both. I have family in Missouri so I keep seeing news stories about Springfield. They are either about violent crime, drug deaths or both. Seems like Springfield is becoming St. Louis.

Most of my relatives in Missouri are on my father's side, but I do have one cousin on my mother's side who moved from Nebraska to Missouri and married a man there. He was nearly beaten to death, outside KC, by a group of young thugs who wanted his moped. They ran him down in a stolen pickup, found torched so no DNA. Since Missouri is a Constitution carry state I told my cousin to tell her husband to start carrying. He now has a metal plate in his chest holding him together.

Another cousin lives 40 miles(I think) from Springfield, she has black bears on her property, They behave better than humans. Though she and her husband never leave the house without a gun, just in case.

Oh little Sidney, Nebraska where Bass Pro screwed Cobela's, thanks to people from Colorado moving in when the former Cobela's employees moved out, has a growing drug prblem. Always had a problem with Meth. but now LSD and Heroin are becoming an issue. But Marijuana is is not a gateway drug. According to every pothead who ends up on LSD or Heroin.

I grew up in Kansas City, Mo. Of course that was many moons ago,1940s and 50s. A while back I read on the net that my old neighborhood in KC is the most dangerous one in America. Sorta makes you proud don't it.

I moved from the N/W side of Chicago to S/W Missouri.
I'm in Springfield and crime here isn't what I'd call serious.
Crack use and property thief seem to be the main crimes.

StuartJ, crime has been steadily rising in cities and urban areas for decades now, I'm not sure this is news to anyone. However, you point out Springfield Missouri as a hot spot; are you going to do something about it seeing as you have some 'skin in the game' by way of your relations? You might not live in Springfield, but I'm sure you're familiar with the old saying; I mean, by your own words, “You give an inch, they take a mile”, along with “Apathetic gun owners and appeasers are how we are going to lose the Constitution.” Sounds like you even are having crime issues right in your local area…what are your going to do, is appeasement the answer? Don’t’ be apathetic sir, or indecisive, ACT NOW! If you need back up, I’m sure there are some that are geared up and excited to come to your immediate aide; I’d start recruiting in Chattanooga TN, they have at least one warrior there that will not bend under any pressure or circumstance, God Speed and best of luck to you on your potential quest!

Yeah, I grew up in St. Louis and was shocked to hear it is now at or near the top of the "most dangerous cities" list.
As for MJ as a gateway drug, I would argue that alcohol and tobacco are the true gateway drugs. Virtually everyone who smokes pot and/or does other harder drugs started with alcohol and tobacco long before trying MJ. So what is the real gateway drug?
But of course a lot of people who rail against pot as a gateway drug drink and/or smoke, because they are legal drugs.
Can't attack those because then it is their ox getting gored....

Gangs ,violence and drugs is all over the US even in the small towns . No support for law enforcement , sanctuary cities , liberal judges and laws it's will get worse. I lived in a small town Milan TN several years ago and crank was the big drug there seen it myself. While doing yard work on a Saturday heard a pop and news report next day said a Hispanic drug dealer was found dead in a nearby field. Most of the dealers and criminals were from Nashville , Memphis and STLouis

Back in the 90s, I didn't know that St. Louis was such a crime zone. I was on a extended business trip, and had the desire to shoot some nighttime time exposures of the Arch. At around 2:00 am, I parked my rent car as close as I could - but it was still a LONG way away from the arch. I was set up beginning my exposures and was suddenly lighted with flashlights and a loud voice " what in the he** are you doing??" Police. I explained my business, and they explained that they were escorting me back to my car - that I was the most stupid person they'd come across all evening. I later discovered how lucky I was in not getting mugged within feet of my car.

Crime is everywhere. I grew up in N.J., south of NYC, then moved to Missouri. I lived in Springfield for a few years. I feel a lot safer there then most other places. There are bad neighborhoods, but most aren't. I'm in Joplin now. In the 30's this was a hideout location for Bonnie and Clyde. But I feel safe just about everywhere here. The most dangerous issue I deal with is all the Kansas drivers who don't seem to know how to use a turn signal.

Bass Pro really did it to Cabelas and Capital One socked it to Forermost Bank. I used to use a Cabelas card for all my personal and business expenses, charged over 25 grand a year on the average. When Bass pro took over and Capital One took the financial end, I ended my relationship with them. Shredded my BLACK Cabelas credit card and cancelled my account and have not been back since and their largest store (Dundee, Michigan, is 3 miles from out farm.

When it was Foremost bank / Cabelas and you called customer service talked to a real person, now you get a arab that speaks broken English. I'm done with them.

    Overpriced anyway.

Parking lot is never full anymore (I go by there numerous times every week). Word is out in Probelas....
