Some days are much more difficult than others...

In August, 2005 I was rescued a dog that was named "Farley". He was a 8 or 9 month old black Bearded Collie (Beardie) puppy. I would estimate his birth sometime around November, 2004. I completed adopting him in August, 2005 and he was renamed Mr. Bentley.

Today, he crossed over Rainbow Bridge as I held him. Br. Bentley and I gave each other a wonderful life in the 15 years he was here, and we have, and I always will appreciate those that helped me adopt him.

Bentley lived a comfortable life, the last 13 years together with Eloise, my female Beardie born about 6 months after Bentley and adopted in her 2nd year. He enjoyed his spots, guarded his dinner bowl, went to the dog park and on walks around my grounds and was always a "good boy". Smart and mischievous at times, he was as loyal and sweet as any dog I've known. Mr. Bentley was always "the boss" but Ms. Eloise knew how to steal a cookie, and keep him on his toes. They grew together and I'm sure Eloise will miss Bentley as much as I do.

I am sad beyond words, but also know that helping him to the end of his life without pain and stress was my final gift to him. As we waited for the vet this afternoon, he stood in the field outside the office, his hair flowing with the breeze, and he sniffed the wind and it's freshness. I'll always remember him this way. There is nobility in the dogs that rescue us.

In sorrow and joy for a wonderful life together with Mr. Bentley,

    Marc

We lost our Lab, named Cherokee, this past March. Her collar hangs on the wall, near where she liked to sleep. We still miss her, always will.
