This was a big day for my family in 2005!

Hurricane Katrina got all the headlines and we were paying attention, but my family had something closer to home that we were focused on; my son becoming a police officer! I had flown my two older sisters in from Maryland and drove over to retrieve my dad from Somerton AZ, my hometown, so he could award a badge to his grandson. My mother was still alive then and would be for another year, but sadly had at that time been in a nursing care facility for 12 years with advanced dementia and physical ailments, I'm sure though, she was there with us in spirit! My dad moved on to a better place in 2011, so I'm glad we were able to capture this short clip of my two best friends on the same stage together!

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride! ~ Hunter S. Thompson
