    New guy in Action Pistol

I attended an instructional event at my club for NRA Action Pistol shooting. It was challenging with an old beater of an M&P 45, at my age (72), but I had a lot of fun and, of course, have a lot of room for improvement. We shot a short course, and I was surprised at how well I did on the movers and how poorly I did on the falling plates. Probably going to do this some more.

One thing that gave me cause to ponder was how few young people were shooting the full course for the regular event. We have to do a better job getting folks under 40 out to the range.

Good Luck. Been trying to get young people involved in shooting sports for years. !!

We do the bowling pins and steel shoots and encourage the young guys to compete. My Grandson loves it and there are about 10 other kids too there. We are glad to see them join in and enjoy it. Youngest Grandson likes the Henry 22 Lever. I like to see the youngsters take an interest.

Careful, it can be addicting. Guns, gear, practice. Good times with good people!

Tried the intro course again a couple of days ago. Did much better. Went 6 for 6 on my last run at the plates at 15 yards. I doubt that I made the time but accuracy first cause you can't miss fast enough to win.

Took my 31 year old son for this one. He seemed to have a good time, but I doubt that he enjoyed it enough to take it up as a hobby.
