Ballistics Test, Winchester 230grain Premium SXT JHP in 45ACP

Finally got around to testing the Win.SXTs I carry . Very impressive.
Temp; 74 degrees, about 30% humidity
    Condition; Clear Skies
Distance from muzzle to Target; 21 feet
Distance from Muzzle to Chrono; 12 feet

Target; six water-filled Milk Jugs with four layers of Denim in front.
Ave velocity for five rounds; 904FPS
    High; 908FPS
    Low;900FPS

Penetration; Four jugs, stopped in fifth jug.
    Retained weight; 229 grains
    Expansion; .764"

NOTE: Current practice considers 6-1./2" of water equal to 4" of ballistic Gelatin. Based on this, penetration of this round equals about 14.5" of Gel.

Thanks for the thread and info , Dave. Your work makes me glad I held on to all those Black Talons I have.

Yep, same round, different color bullet. Winchester is smart. I have a box of Black Talons myself, too valuable as Collector Rounds to shoot though. Around here a box like mine goes for about $75.00. The Premium SXTs went, pre-panic price, $25.00 at the local gunstore.

The day after Dan Rather had the story about the "circular saw" bullets , I went to the GS and picked up six boxes because I knew all hell was gonna break loose about them.
