Wisconsin deer are not tough animals requiring bone crushing hard cast loads to get to the vitals. Use JHPs for a faster, more humane kill.

(Editorial: I would rather use 9mm JHP for whitetails than a non-expanding .44 anything.)

    Hi guys
First time on this forum. I own TRR8 5" with vortex VIPER 158 gr JHP great on DEER, 625-8 performance center 4" 255 gr hardcast +p or 255 gr hardcast 45 super knocks the crap out of big pigs, ruger new model blackhawk 45 convertible haven't shot anything with it yet but am anxious to try it on hogs soon.
My question to all is what are your opinions on the 625 and 45 super ammo. I know the Ruger is stronger but DAMN my 625 is a better shooter. Thanks

The 45 super ammo that I've shot in my 625-8 are Underwood 255 gr hardcast 1075 FPS/654 ft lbs of energy "as advertised". Hogs hate it. "But IS IT SAFE"

I killed this bull with a 250gr hard cast 'Keith' SWCs, in 44 Special over a dollop of 2400.

Awesome Bull Very nice revolver. Is that a stout load for the 44 special? I've killed hogs with ball 45 acp but 45 super Is my short range DRT round. Since I don't reload I'm just concerned about shooting them from my 625-8. Where we hunt, the deer or hog usually presents itself at bow hunting distance and the hardcast supers will usually break the shoulder and pass through. Head shots speak for themselves. They are also good for protecting my LABs from alligators with bad intentions LOL.Name: IMG_0854.JPG

It is still wise to read the ancient wisdom of Elmer Keith........who practically invented the Semi-Wadcutter bullet as a hunting missile.

Read him and abide by what he says.

A good hard Keith-Type (meaning with sharply defined edges, not rounded) SWC will give you the same consistent killing performance every time.
