The R1 is a very reasonably priced 1911, I picked up the black oxide model a few months ago for $499, they are now $399 and the stainless $449 with rebates....goes bang when you pull the trigger just like my pricier ones

The idiot scratch on the slide is straight from Remington...never noticed it until I wiped it down when I got home

Offering a 'blasphemous' comment, I admit to not being a big fan of the Model 1911, they just don't work for me. However, I did have a Remington R1 in dark finish and it shot on-point for me, no complaints there, but I sold it. My issue with a 1911 is the 'safe carry' option. I'm not good with the 'cocked and locked' situation, it just bothers me, much like the idea of considering the idea of having another wife after this one. Trying to buck the norm and placing an un-cocked 1911 with a 'loaded and chambered' round for my feeling of safe carry isn't worth the effort in my opinion. An SA/DA pistol works better for my simple minded way of life, beyond a revolver of course, but that's just me! Otherwise, nice purchase sir, I know you'll be able to shoot well with it, they're actually good guns in my opinion!
