This pig was taken with dogs while we were out mustering (rounding up) cattle, He is still alive in this photo. Pigs are sometimes taken and processed for the game meat export to Germany and other places in europe. The hunter gets $1 to $1.50 per kilogram (about 2.2 pounds) dressed weight for the pigs This pig was about 80 - 90 kg.

The dogs look very relaxed around the pig.

Thanks for sharing. Nice report. We don't have them in this part of the States.

These two dogs were not the ones that caught the pig, the one that did the catching is a small staffy cross.Usually once they have caught it they relax or go and find more.

this is a photo of my brother in law and his two dogs, sometimes it is not so relaxed. The dogs will catch them anywhere even if they have to swim.

My experiences with wild swine lead me to believe that they'll slice up your dogs and your shin bones if they get half a chance! :)

I don't know just exactly what this south Texas game of "Wild Boar Poker" is...but want no part of it for myself. :)

To dispatch the pig you knife them in the heart by going through the neck and yes the pigs will rip you and your dogs up given a chance the dogs wear protection but this does not stop all rips. you have to trust your dogs for you to go in and grab the pig by thee hind legs and turn it on its side and the dispatch or tie up.

Cool pictures. I'd like to see a picture of the knife you do the deed with.

I love the protector the dog is wearing.
