I recently came into possession of a set of N-frame Grashorn magnas, and I tried them on a prewar .38/44 Heavy Duty to see what they looked like. The appearance strikes me as so 1930s western-state lawman that I had to share photos of them.

I have shown this gun before with other stocks, but these fill up my hand better than any others I have had on it. I can't wait to get back to the range and try out this configuration. I imagine these stocks were made for a postwar N-frame, so they are not a perfect fit for this gun. With just a bit of sanding and polishing I can get them to fit this frame exactly side to side, but they are about 1/32" short for the length of the frame. That shortfall does not bother me. If I continue to like the look after they have lived on this gun for a while, I may make the minor mods that will get them to fit more closely.

This is a 1934 gun, so the magnas are an anachronism. But a late '30s copy of this model could have worn them, and that's my rebuttal to the "inauthenticity" argument.

You will get no argument from me, great looking revolver. Do not go to the El Paso Saddelry web site and look at the "Austin" holster

David,
Nice appearance and function, too.
IMHO, having Patrick make you another set to accommodate that prewar frame would be a great idea, and a whole lot easier on your hand, too.
A fine revolver that suits those grips well!

Really nice -- and it says "western lawman" for sure!

Fact is, those look so nice that they give me ideas for a set for my transition-era (shipped early '47) HD!
