well that was good for you.
shooting with two eyes open is really hard.
i think only cowboys can do that.
specially when they have a one on one fight.
Ok .. a little help now.
My accuracy has improved .. most of the time. Groupings at 20 years within the span of the palm of my hand. I'm not getting any sharpshooter awards, but I'm happy.
But sometimes I get these wild groupings spread out all over the place. The next set, I'll carefully take my stance and everything will be fine.
Now, I know without watching me it's impossible to figure this out. But any suggestions on how I can figure out what I'm not doing right from time to time???
Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.

Try puting artifical tears in your eyes a few minute before you shoot... improves my accuracy for some reason.

My wife does say I do a purty darn good impression of Sam Elliot. Might have to do a truck commercial one day.Originally Posted by HeartBreaker

Both eyes open are only good if your dominant eye can stay focused on the front sight. The front sight is all that matters.
My dad taught me from the very beginning to shoot both eyes open.
His justification was that if you ever damaged one eye you could still shoot...
A couple of weeks ago, a friend brought a .22 Ruger pistol with a scope on it. I found it much easier to shoot it with both eyes open. After I fired, the can or plastic bottle would move and it was easier to bring the gun back to target since I could see the bottle in my left eye unassisted, and then again through the scope superimposed over the smaller image when it was back on target. I quickly adjusted to make my left eye 'the boss' to search, and then the right eye when I needed to aim.

John, I never knew it was that big of an issue. I'm left eye/hand dominate, and have always shot with both eye's open regardless of type of firearm or aiming device.
"IF" one can do it, it's the best way to go for a number of good reasons.
Unfortunately for old dawgs like me, we'll continue to "dance with what we've brung"

NULLI SECUNDUS
I was always taught to shoot rifles with one eye closed. I still shoot my scoped rifles that way. Ever since I was taught to shoot a bow with both eyes open, that's what I've been doing if the weapon has good old irons on it. I just got into shooting handguns as I'm just about to turn 21 and finally be able to own one here in PA. Shooting handgun for me with one eye open is much harder that both eyes open.
This all could be caused by my trying to become ambidextrous with all of my weapons as I am right eye dominant and shoot right handed most of the time, however I am predominantly left handed aside from shooting. I'm a very odd fellow. Makes me wonder sometimes why I do stuff the way I do.
