Lamp added to the shop , I like it ............

I recently added a lamp to my work area .

I have a Kobalt workbench where I store all the gun cleaning supplies and various other gun related supplies .

It has an integrated but small hi intensity fluorescent 18" tube lite over the 44" work top at the very rear .

And there are two 4 foot fluorescent tube fixtures overhead in the basement utility room .

But cleaning my guns was a less than satisfactory experience .

So I looked around and found this on Amazon -

Amazon.com: Eclipse 902-109 Magnifier Workbench Lamp - White..with Bench Clamp: Test Equipment Depot

With my age related eye challenges , I had been thinking about getting a good lighted magnifying glass .

This item incorporates that also , although the magnification is very low .

The light is easily adjustable and VERY bright.

My worktop is flush w the bench so I'm contemplating screwing a strip of wood to the far right side , such that it extends about 2 inches
futher from the bench and will allow the lamp clamp to be attached .

By putting it slightly behind your object - gun - you pretty much eliminate the shadows that arise .
Such as in the top and bottom straps with the cylinder open .
I placed it just off my right elbow .

I cleaned 3 revolvers today and this lamp was a wonder . Makes my job easier , saved time , and lessened frustrations .

I like it a lot . Perhaps it is a bit expensive and maybe you can find something better suited for your needs .

But it worked for me and I'm glad that I got it .

    Regards ,
    George

    Nice magnifier

Good lighting on a workbench is nice to have. I have all dazor brand lights on my benches. I also have a couple dazor magnifiers I rarely use those. If I need magnification. With small items I use a jewelers loupe. It does help to see what you are work'n on. So far my eyeglasses are working fine. Damn get'n old sure does suck.

I solved my 'problem' by buying one of those 'Goose-necked Desk Lamps' that we had in college. It provides the concentrated light whereever I need it. I also have two light bulbs in the ceiling fixture above the bench. I keep several magnifying glasses handy in a drawer. Just in case......I really don't need them....ya' know! Bob

I've got the el' cheapo version of your light. Been using one since I found out I couldn't see good enough to tie size 22 dry flies. Now for this new "hobby" of reloading, it's sure a lot easier reading the headstamps on the cases for sorting.

I got one of those for work. The cover is nice to keep the lens clean, and the lens is actually large enough to get both eyes into.

We have them all over the plant where I work. There must be 10 or more of them. I don't have a reloading bench set up yet, but it's a great idea that I'll incorporate onto mine..

After the new neighbor story this morning I wasn't expecting to read about a lamp. Knowing this article came from George. I wass expecting to have the need to put down my coffee cup again.

    I've got it!
George can be used as a cure to any coffee addiction. Just post his jokes all over the house, and around the office.
You'll be so busy laughing you'll never be able to drink any more coffee!

    George, you're a genius!
