    ?? about the 6906

I located a nice 6906 at a local shop and wondered if anyone had some good feedback about this model. This is what I know about them...9mm , compact design, curved backstrap, stainless steel. It looks like a decent shooter. Might be a bit heavy for CCW. Any comments pro and con will be appreciated.

Leighton posted that the 3913 was one the best CCW pistol in his experince. Are there any majors differences between these two models other than the alloy frame on the 3913 as opposed to the stainless frame on the 6906 ?

I have it's 2nd gen cousin the 669. Perfect for conceal and accurate.
My 669 is my daily carry pistol.
It is a bit heavy, but it sure helps absorb the recoil and keeps me on target.
    Con's --- it's a 9mm and you only have 12 or 13 rounds to defeat the BG's(lol)
$350-$400 is close to what you should expect to pay. If it has extra magazines or a holster all the better. Holsters are easy to find and available for it just about everywhere.
My firearms are an investment on my life.

The average response time for 911 is 20 min., the average response time for .357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

    Re: ?? about the 6906

The 6906 is no heavier than a 3" K frame and every carries one of those without a second thought. A proper belt and holster will do it.

IIRC, the major difference between the 3913 and 6906 is magazine capacity. 3913s are single stacks with 8 rounds. 6906s use staggered column mags with I think 13 rounds capacity.

BTW, 13 rounds of a premium defensive 9 mm hollow point load like Speer Gold Dot or Winchester Ranger is some serious firepower. Do not let anyone suggest otherwise.

This is where the SW number system gets a little fuzzy. 6906 isn't all steel, it has an alloy frame just like the 3913. Only difference between the two is the magazine capacity. They are the same in length and height. The 6906 is a little wider through the grip area.

The S&W "mini guns" (469, etc) are actually lighter than a Glock 22.

    Re: ?? about the 6906

I carried a 6906 for nine years as a duty (undercover) weapon. I never had any problems with it. Fired many rounds through it during training each month. I bought from my agency when I retired for $35.00.

2851delta, I'll go $105 to cover your costs. I'll even give $5 for each for the extra mags you might just have lying around (lol)
Leighton, your 6906 seems to have been carried a bit.
There wouldn't be any indications there to give us the impression that you like it, would there?

Back to M58 --- Did you get it yet? We don't have any pictures posted from you on it.
Just wondering. I hope you noticed, we're inclined to give the thumbs up on the 6906.

    Re: ?? about the 6906

I have both the 3913 and the 6906. I have been carrying concealed for just over 40 years. (No, really, forty years, I know I don't look that old but I am)
Carried a lot of guns over the years. Mostly short barreled K frames, 1911s and then finally the third generation S&W autos. I prefer 9mm because of the cost of shooting. I try to fire at least 100 rounds once a month and during the winter, I at least double that.

There is really not much difference between the two when it comes to concealment. I have Hogue grips on my 3913 and they about equal the width of the 6906 grips. The 6906 is slightly heavier and of course, more so when loaded.
If I had to sell one and I think I probably will, it would probably be the 6906. The 3913 has been through the Performance Center and had the action smoothed out and the double action is down to maybe four pounds and the single action can't be more than two pounds. It's probably my absolute favorite shooter.
I probably shouldn't have posted here because now I have made up my mind to sell the 6906 and I'll put an ad in the classified section
