    SD9VE Slide Lock Problem

Hey guys, my names Chris and I'm new to the forum.

This past Thursday I bought my first pistol, and went with a brand new SD9VE. I took it to the range for the first time and I love the gun, but did find one problem with it. After shooting the last round in a mag the slide would not stay locked in the open position. This malfunction occurred using both mags. The slide did lock open once at the range, I believe it was the 3rd or 4th mag I put through it, but it failed to lock on the other 8 mags I shot through it. I was hoping someone might shed some light on why a brand new gun is acting up...

    Thanks,
    Chris

Sounds like magazine spring and or follower not meeting specs. I haven't been able to find anything else on the web to this nature, not that it's not happening. Follow 1jimmy's advise promptly. Be advised, S&W may and probably will, require returning the mags and possibly the pistol. If the latter is the case, you should have gun & mags back 10 business days after you ship.

if the gun will lock back with an empty mag by pulling the slide back by hand then the ammo is not hot enough. if this not the case, check to see that the slide stop is making contact with the follower.
