    Gunblast on the Shield

Although I'm not "Shieldish" (Shieldy?), here is Jeff Quinn's (fellow home-boy Tennessean) take on the new pistol:

    Smith & Wesson* M&P Shield Sub-Compact 9x19mm Semi-Auto Pistol

I like it! Only it does seem alittle on the heavy side, just like my M-36....20 ozs. (1lb 4 ozs.). Not exactly a pocket gun.....I do notice the weight when I carry in a front pocket. A hip pocket ain't too bad.....but I prefer a holster on the belt. BTW, it's not Approved for sale in Mass., yet! I do like the Ruger LC 9, but I'll have to compare it with the "Shield" 9mm.......maybe someday soon. I may go over to the 'dark side' soon, as the price of revolvers is getting rediculous......plus 9mm. ammo is dirt cheap at Walmart! I could use the exercise of.....chasing after cartridges, too! Bob

Here in western PA I called every gun store within 50 miles of here. No one had them. Had 3 dealers actually chuckle when I asked. Guess they get that question a lot. Had to go the online route to get my hands on one. I'm really glad I did. Fits my hand really well, even with the flush clip. Pretty darn accurate for a small handgun as well. Conceals very well, I have carried it both ankle and iwb (preferred iwb). Tried pocket, just a bit too large for that, but it can work in the right pants.

Picked up the .40 version of the Shield yesterday. It was love at first sight. I agree with Quinn's take on the size. It's just right. The trigger far exceeds what I expected. TO the range tomorrow!!!

My LGS (W.E. Sell) Had one in stock. I lucked into it.

Man, looks like a tiny M&P. Nice looking gun.

I got a 9mm version for my wife and happened to get a chance to fire someone else's .40 while at the range. I could not distinguish any difference in recoil between the two.

I bought my Shield the very day it came out back in April and LOVE it. It just shoots anything I put in it and accurately.

I have been anticipating on getting a Shield, but have not had the money. Now that I have had the money you can't find them. The only one on GunBroker that was a 9mm I bought but I had to pay for it. The 40mm you can find easily. Now to send the check and wait for it's arrival.
