    New To Me M&P45

I picked up a police trade in M&P45. The pistol has night sights that are still glowing bright, the box, 3 mags, all three backstraps, lock, papers, etc..... The only real sign that the pistol has even been shot is a slight wear mark on top of the barrel hood, otherwise the pistol is pristine. $450 OTD tax and background check.

Police 'trade-in'? Looks more like police surplus. There doesn't appear to be any holster wear at all. Does the S/N on the firearm match the S/N on the hard case?

I agree that it looks more like surplus. I was curious how the Melonite finish (that's what it looks like) held up against holster wear. I will be on the hunt for a Raven Phantom holster or similar for this piece. Yes, the serial numbers match.

.45acp is my caliber of choice, regardless of the paltform. My .45's currently exist on the 1911, Sig 220, HK Mk23 and now this. Going to be on the hunt for the right deal on a S&W 4506 or 4566.

Nice score for certain, congrats. I love a nice .45ACP also and if they weren't so damn expensive to shoot, I'd have more than just the one.

    bodyarmorguy,
That's a great find. I just got an M&P 40 and was able to shoot it this past weekend. Your going to really like shooting that pistol. I was totally impressed how good the M&P shoots. It'll end up in my favorites list, I'm sure of that.
I hope your M&P 45 becomes one of your favorites too.

    All2Kool,
It sounds like you might need to start reloading as badly as I do.
They tell me a box of 50 rounds can be home loaded for around $10.
    Now that's affordable.

I'm working on getting my reloading bench together. I'm going to need primers and powder pretty soon. I'll start my reloading with some 38/357, since I have around 500 [38] caliber bullets thanks to one of the members here. He's also helped with some of the other basic reloading gear too.
All the help I can get is always greatly appreciated.

My firearms are an investment on my life.
When the time comes that I don't want a new gun, call the undertaker!
The average response time for 911 is 20 min., the average response time for .357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

I had a M&P45C for a few weeks last year and really liked it. I only sold it to fund another project. I will always be a die hard 1911 guy for carry, but I have definite plans for this pistol as a teaching gun.
Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.

I just purchased a new .45 M&P and unless I am real snappy with putting the first round in the chamber it tends to hang up at times. This started after firing my first two boxes. So I took the gun apart and made sure that it was free from any grime. A little better, but i still have to be fast with getting that first round loaded. Is this normal?
