jstanfield103: Oh dang, but just to clarify you did polish the flat/matte stainless surfaces of your 4506? when you used the 800 grit sandpaper, did you wet sand or dry sand?

NULLI SECUNDUS
I used the sand paper dry. Started with the 800 grit to get all the roughness out, then the 1000 and then the 2000, then of course mothers. It will make a mirror finish on stainless steel.
If you GOOGLE polishing stainless steel you get all the info you need. Thats were I found the best way to do it.
I did it all hand, no tools to damage any thing. I also took the gun completely appart. Found videos on YouTube for that. Completely taking the gun apart allows you to get into every crevice.
Good Luck and lets see pictures when done.
It may take that, but use it judiciously. When you take more metal off at a time, you risk getting depressions and other unevenness in the surface. Wet sanding with a block can prevent this.
I would stay with a 800 grit. It is not easy, it takes a lot of elbow grease. It will come off though and will look like glass when done.
I'll admit I was scared for you to do that, as it is so easy to bugger it up, but you have done an excellent job!! It looks not only good, it looks correct!
