You pull the slide back and lock it. Then pull down on the trigger guard. Its kind of stiff so you gotta pull pretty good and it swings down then the barrel and spring will come off. Only takes a second then you can look for wear.You can buy other barrels for them and they dont have to be fitted just switch.
If you look through the members list here and find Hammer Down. He repairs and refinishes grips so you can send him a message and see what he can do with the grips for you.I have heard if you shoot a lot of hotter ammo in them it can beat them pretty bad. There is a buffer that dont cost much you can install easily. DHenry mentioned it once. He is a member here and can tell you about them. I need to get a couple myself come to think of it.If you want to spend some money on it there is a company called Clarks that make barrels for them with mounts etc. But they are pricey.
