Locally, they are selling in the same price range. I bought the Performance Center ported version for about $340... Very nice.

I bought one this morning and fired 100 rounds in it (LGS has a range). It has a good trigger and everything performed well.

I also bought the magazine loader ($32) which makes it much easier and faster to load the ammo. It is universal so it will load a .45 ACP as well. I passed on the extra magazines as they wanted $30 each. The ammo was $11 per box.

No one would ever call it a great looking gun, but it will serve it's purpose well as a small carry pistol:

I found this holster in the ads (slightly used). It works great with the Shield:

Several online dealers are running sales on the Shield 9mm magazines right now. $20 is a common price plus shipping.

Thanks, I've been shopping but haven't found a good deal on the magazine and shipping yet.

I bought a couple of Colt 1911 stainless steel magazines several weeks ago for $26 each. I got free shipping and no sales tax. This was an all steel magazine. The Shield has a ~alloy case with plastic on each end. That is worth no more than $20, IMO.

I found some 9mm ammo at $20/ box (100 rounds per box) today at WalMart. I was there for the Mobil 1 synthetic oil (the current rebate ends 5-31-17).

I purchased a couple of ProMag 8 round magazines for mine, and they have worked great. No issues what so ever. I think I paid about $17 each for them, just can't remember if it was at CTD or Gun Mag Warehouse.

    Thanks,
It was cheaper than dirt (I checked 'em both). Being cheap myself, their shipping was $8 so I left them in my cart for now. That Gun Mag place wanted $26 for the S&W magazine.

BTW, I just missed a $10/magazine deal at Grice Gun Shop (it's in PA). They sold out. It looks like a great store.

I just got back from the range. I shot the Shield along with a few others. I'm getting better with it. I think one more practice and I'll be confidant enough to carry it. I'm sure glad I got the magazine loader as the Shield has a strong magazine spring (do the other S&W pistols have the same thing?).

    Thanks,
I am way beyond any regret. It's a great pistol at a great price. I'm almost to the place of buying another one to get spare parts.
