Re: Show me your BEST S&W 357 Magnum

My first handgun was a S&W Model 27-2. I still have it and it still shoots very well, but I prefer stainless, so my favorite .357 is my 625PC.

Re: Show me your BEST S&W 357 Magnum

That's an easy choice for me even though I have quite a few .357's. This is a 5-screw,5'', nickel pre-27 with it's original,serial-numbered box. I also have the original magna stocks and a pair of stags that came with it when I bought it. I have talked to a LOT of Smith guys about this gun. A couple said they have seen one and Lee Jarrett has one,but he says it looks like it has been dragged behind a truck. I have never seen another, not so much as a picture of one. I have come to the conclusion that it is extremely rare. A well known collector/dealer has offered me $3,000 for it,sight unseen, only a couple of pics. That tells me it's probably worth more, maybe a lot more, considering the prices this gentleman gets for his wares. A lot of y'all have probably seen this pic of it wearing Keith Brown's fabulous stocks, but here it is again.

Here's the first pic I took of it when I got a digital camera.

    Model 28-2

This one is a 1/2. It's on layaway right now.

Re: Show me your BEST S&W 357 Magnum

Well, I have several and like all of them, but I probably shoot my 4 inch Model 28 and my Model 686 the most:
    Model 27-2, 5 inch:

    Model 66-1, 2 1/2 inch:

Model 28-2, 4 inch: This one originally came with a 6 inch barrel, but since the gun was finish challenged, I installed a 4 inch barrel, and had S&W refinish it and install the red ramp on the front sight.

    Model 19-4, 4 inch:

    Model 28-2, 6 inch:

    Model 66-1, 4 inch:

Model 686. It now has the original 6 inch barrel back on it, but when the photo was taken, I had installed a 4 inch barrel. I liked it, but to me the 6 inch was better, so I reinstalled the original 6 inch barrel.

I'm not sure it's my best, but it's my favoritest!
