    Value of a 681

Before joining this forum, I didnt know there WAS a model 681 Smith and Wesson. Now I find meself looking for 681's, 15's, etc., etc. I have located a 681, the shop wants $499.00. Gun appears in good condition. The cylinder does not spin freely, but I attribute that to needing a good cleaning. What do you guys think about the price??

The 681's are great tough guns. I've had a few and was always impressed.

I'd say that may be a bit high if it doesn't work quite right (they should clean it to be sure the cylinder spins as it should)

If you can offer say $425 and see where it get you. Then clean it up and shoot!

NFrame, thank you for the quick reply. I shall make him the offer and see what transpires. I think this 681 would make a nice addition to my fledgling collection.

I would suggest offering him a hundred less....then wheelin' and dealin'. Chances are....he'll counter with "split the difference". Then, point out to him, that the gun is questionable, due to the cylinder not spinning freely...as it should! He might go down alittle more. Good luck!!! Bob
