Trying to get some info on a S&W 32 Long Colt for my brother in law. No doubt it's old (probably really old). The serial number is 638574. He's basically trying to find out what year it was made and a ball park figure of what it may be worth. Thanks.

So, you want to break in and take my stuff. Well, come on. But with the price of ammo so high,
I'm no longer firing a warning shot.
Hello.
As mentioned, we'll need some pictures.
The 32 S&W Long is a different caliber than the 32 Long Colt, though they are comparable.
I could not find any mention in the Standard Catalog of S&W of the company ever chambering a revolver in 32 Long Colt.
If the gun is a S&W revolver chambered in 32 S&W, the serial number would place it as Postwar .32 Hand Ejector dating to the late 1950's to possibly 1960. 536685 to 712953.
I'll try to get some pictures in the next week or two. He lives in a different city, doesn't have a computer and it will be at least two weeks before I can get up to see him. Please check here again around the first of February. Thanks for the response though.
