Houston, Texas engraver Craig Vitello (AKA engraver10 on this forum) has finally started the engraving job on my old S&W 686 (no dash). He keeps in touch as the job progresses and has sent me a few photo's as he begins the lay-out of the project. As the job progresses, I'll try to post the updated photo's. It's unbelieveable the way this guy thinks and lays things out. He's a really talented artist and cuts all this by hand. The cylinder is finished and I have asked him to engrave the Old Navy Eagle on the side plate. Here's all that's been done the past few weeks. I've asked for a "brushed" finish because this one gets shot a lot. One things for sure, it'll be the only one like it.

This is going to be one awesome wheelgun once it's completed. So far the work is pretty impressive. I can't wait to see the progress up and running.
I like the Old Navy pattern. That should really offset the side panel. Is he going to do scrolling around the S&W rollmark, or will ha be doing something different?

I'm gonna love watching this transformation! What kinda budget does Craig entertain for work similar to what you're having done, grasshopper? I wouldn't know where to start or end-up to begin saving for such artistry.
