A Model 629-1 full underlug and non-fluted meets it's step brothers

I already have a 29 and a 629 but they are keepsakes . Like the bears in winter they do a lot of sleeping .

So I have been looking for a shooter .44 Magnum . And I ran across this oddity .

Now I'm not a big fan of the full underlug . But for some reason this one w the non-fluted cylinder appealed to me .

    It's in fact a 629-1 . The serial # is BBD 45** . Appears to be 1988 production ?

    It's got a smooth triggger , serrated target hammer , WO rear sight , a pinned black ramp front sight , and is a SB N frame w a 6" barrel .

This gun is a handful . Unloaded and w NO grips it weighs 46.6 oz .

And according to the catalog the dash 1 should not have a full underlug OR a non-fluted cylinder . Not in any version that I see .

So I reckon it's been changed out along the way . There are a few markings under the grips but I'm not sure they are factory mod indicators .

On one side of the grip frame is
    an X in a circle
    an X in a triangle
    the numbers 7559

On the other side of the grip frame is
    a white sticker w the number 22
    the number/letter 95xxx ( I'm not x ing anything out , those are x's )
    and A18

Anything here mean anything as regards to factory mod ?

The stainless is in excellent condition . A bit of Mothers cleaned up a few mars .

It came w rubber galoshes which have been sent to the grip box . I haven't decided what I will put on as replacements .

In the meantime I've put on some Kuracs for the pics .

Geez George, gonna start calling you Dirty Harry,,, nice shooter!
Those numbers mean nothing to me, the one that does is a missing No. 10 from the center of a target,
    Range report?

George, It looks like you're well prepared for a walk in the Okeefenokee - That is a 44 well suited for such an environ - Actually it is a beauty George.

Very, very nice! Quite a handsome family you've got going there. Never been a huge fan of an un-fluted cylinder, but that one looks awesome.
