    Large odd USAF Flap holsters

Howdy Guys , I now have two of these strange holsters, Originally we thought this holsters to be a custom jobs made around one of the Air Force bases overseas and for the S&W model 15 or a M&P.
I just bought another except for a slight difference in stiching they are twins including on odd snap on the back of the holster, Well my M&P Victory is way too small for this holsters , but my model 58 n frame fits fine, could these holster have been made for a n frame ??
I remember reading in a old Guns & Ammo magazine about the USAF issueing .357 magnums during the Korean War ??
    any thoughts , robbt

I'm going to take a stab at the design here. It looks as if the backflap is deep enough to fit over a 3" web belt.
Did USAF officers ever wear uniforms with web belts? It's certainly a good sized holster. I'm guessing you're correct on the idea that it might have been made for an N-Frame revolver. Were there any large frame Colt revolvers issued in that time period?

Just a few thoughts about the design. Certainly nothing certain yet.
My firearms are an investment on my life.
When the time comes that I don't want a new gun, call the undertaker!
The average response time for 911 is 20 min., the average response time for .357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

hi gearchecker , only large frame revolvers in the supply at this time would have been left over model 1917's only this holster is for a 4 inch revolver . I was told from a USAF armorer that when the Air Force broke away form the army the army gave them a collection of old revolvers including a collection of model 1917's .
Yes the Air Force issued Olive Drag web belts and air force blue ones also. the holster will fit on a web belt which may explain the snap on the back of the holster, a oddity to say the least, rojo

    How about re-issued 1917's?

Predates my era, late 60s. You're gonna have to find a real old fart. We used the K-38s with a small leather strap behind the hammer on the holster.

hi needsmostuff , no imprint in either , very odd, but neat holster, the holster has snaps instead of studs like the M13 Aircrewman holster
