    The shady gun

I haven't been shooting for - well, too long of a while and it shows. But it is a bright sunny spring like day and I decided to unlimber my long barrel nickled model 27-2 and adjust the sights. I have been thinking about doing a woods walk behind the house and carrying this pretty ol long barrel. I have plenty of Blazer 158 grain JHP's, and that is what I sighted her in for. As figured, I was being too anxious to trip the hammer, and yes I did load 5 beans in the wheel and rotated the cylinder so I wouldn't know when an empty chamber would be under the firing pin, yup I flinched. . .But the good news is when I was doing my part the bullet holes were touching and I had to adjust for windage and already had cranked down the elevation screw, so now it's time to dispose of some of the junk left on the banks of our crick during the flooding. But I found out that bright nickle front sight is made for the shade, so I got on the down sun side of the old chicken coop as I blasted the cans; it is a shady gun. It was good to watch those maggies send the cans a flyin - Now I'll clean her and take her along for company on my next wood walk.

Nice gun, it can serve double duty as a cane when you get old.

Bro suggest we can use our long barrels for canes when we get old - I'll keep that in mind 30 or so years down the road, you do the same. . .Thanks for the compliment David.

    David,

I reckon that barrel is big enough to blot-out a lotta sunshine, but it shore has a nice, deep finish.

I'll take ALL the edge I can get.....and my 19 and 67 8-3/8" Model 14 does that for me.
